If you use Notes with high frequency every day it is necessary to dive deeper into the app and really going after its potential. Many users however don’t realize the hidden power of such a simple app unfortunately and have no idea about the tricks in the Notes app that are worth taking advantage of.

Syncing Notes on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

As it is known to all, the Notes is associated with an IMAP email account or iCloud account, so you can have your notes synced across all of your iOS and OS X devices using iCloud, if you own multiple iOS devices. To sync Notes, enable Notes for each account firstly. Open up the Settings app and tap on iCloud. From the list, find Notes and flip the toggle switch to the right to turn it on. You’ll want to do this on all of your Apple devices that you want your notes synced to. By doing so, every note you type will automatically show up on all of your Apple devices too.

Insert Photos into Notes

The Notes app on your iPhone isn’t just for typing out text. You can also insert photos right into your notes with ease. Tap, hold down, and then release in a particular spot where you want the photo and then select Insert Photo from the pop-up selection menu. Find the photo that you want to insert and tap on it. From there, select Choose and it will be instantly inserted into your note.

Edit existing Notes

Launch the Notes app from the Home Screen of your iPhone or iPad and tap on the note you want to edit. Tap and hold on a word and then release. A menu will pop up and you’ll tap on Select or Select All. From there, tap on the right arrow (if there is one) and then select BIU. You’ll get the option to bold, italicize or underline the selected word or sentence.

Share Notes with Others

If you want to share a note with someone there are many different ways to do it. When you’re inside of a note, go down all the way to the bottom and tap on the Share button — it will be the button in the center. If your keyboard is still active on the screen, just tap “Done” to make it disappear so that you can access the Share button. From there, you can send the note through an iMessage or an email, as well as share it on Facebook or Twitter.

Delete duplicate Notes

Syncing Notes both over the air and with iTunes can result in duplicate notes appearing in the Notes application. Use the following steps to resolve the issue:

Connect your device and select it in iTunes.

Click the Info pane and deselect the option to Sync Notes.

When prompted, select Delete Notes to remove the duplicates from the device.

If you want to sync notes with iTunes instead of using the over-the-air feature, disable Notes sync for the account using Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars or Settings > iCloud.
